'Texas Road Rash Marathon' by Michael Cheek The 2nd stage of the NROC, the Texas Road Rash Marathon, was held in Round Rock Texas. The course was absolutely beautiful, the surface was smooth, and over all it was a great race. I actually went into this race just hoping to have a good time and get a good workout in. There were several breakaways and the race ended up getting really split up. In the end I was left in a sprint with Rob Bell and Alex Fedak, which fortunately I was able to win. In the women’s race it was Megan Gillis (Luigino Racing) winning the event. Races like this are always so much fun for me. At the end of the race there was a cook out, and all of the people who raced together got the opportunity to hang out. I love going to races where not only does everyone race against each other, but they all want to be friends after. It was a great atmosphere and hopefully next year everyone can attend. Sincerely, your friend in speed skating, Michael Cheek
